Customer Story: JP Konetyö Oy Logging Company Meets the Demands of Finland’s Terrain

Jari Päivärinta began his career in the logging industry in 1999 by running an agricultural tractor with forestry equipment. He purchased his first wheeled harvester in 2000 (a Timberjack 870) with a Waratah HTH450 head. At that time, he also purchased a Timberjack 810B wheeled forwarder.

He opened JP Konetyö Oy Logging Company, located in Katajamäki, Finland, and began purchasing timber from private owners three years ago in 2009 when he wanted more of a challenge than he was finding in the day-to-day logging business. The company currently contracts with Metsäliitto Forest Company and boasts an annual cutting volume between 50000-60000m3. Typical sites are between 200-1000m3 with a tree volume up to 0.5m3.

Currently, JP Konetyö owns two Waratah HTH460 heads and uses both heads on Prosilva 910 harvesters. Due to his past experience, the decision to purchase Waratah again was easy. Jari said, “Waratah heads are the best in the market. They are reliable and the accuracy of timber-length measuring is excellent.”

JP Konetyö Oy Logging Company currently specializes in soft terrain and is finding a great demand for this type of business in the area. “I currently have one tracked harvester and one tracked forwarder that are set up to work in softer terrain and we plan to buy one more tracked machine chain to meet the demand of work in soft terrain,” explained Jari. He continued, “It’s good to know that Waratah will be there to help me meet the special demands of the forest.”
